A mountain peak standing clear above the clouds

“Today lets you begin again. Use it.”

My friend kept a job she hated for eleven years because she was sure people were watching. Her mother would worry. Her coworkers would judge. Her old classmates would smirk. So every morning she built a life she did not want, brick by resentful brick.

Then she quit. And something terrible happened: nothing. Her mother said, “Good, you looked tired.” Her coworkers took her to lunch. The grand audience she had been performing her fear for had never bought a ticket.

“Today lets you begin again. Use it.”

The people in your life are busy living their own afraid. Most of them are waiting for their own permission to change something. Your new beginning might be the loudest encouragement they ever hear.

So take the long look at the thing you are scared to start over. The clock really does reset every morning — today's version of you is not chained to yesterday's choices. Begin again. Use it.
